Reader,
I’m getting frustrated at the amount of people who are using AI to write blog posts.
They are dog s**t.
Not because they’re written by AI, but because I’m falling asleep half way through.
The corporate voice that our high school teacher taught us reeks.
Ask any copywriter and they’ll tell you the same:
Forget everything you’ve been taught about writing.
Break those rules and throw them in the bin.
Because they don’t sell.
So when Michael from the office decides to skip all the hard work by typing one silly little prompt into ChatGPT, publish it on their employer’s website and wonder why sales haven’t increased, you know why.
(Sorry, Michael!)
AI isn’t about tricking search engines anymore.
Even with this Google Core Update, AI-generated articles are ranking.
It’s about engagement.
You want to know why copywriters still haven’t gone out of business despite AI?
They keep the reader moving from one line to the next.
From the top of the funnel to entering their credit card details.
That’s why you pay £700+ per page for a fantastic copywriter.
But how do I know that it’s all AI and not just mediocre writing?
I’m generating AI on the daily.
I’m spotting the patterns - and your customers will soon.
How you can make your AI content stand out.
The good news is the standard is low at the moment. Unless AI rapidly improves, we could end up full circle and copywriters end up 10x their pricing.
And even if it did, we’re relying on the average Joe to stay on top of it.
I’m here to help.
I’m going to give you my workflow for creating AI blog posts that don’t stink.
Here are the only two tools you’ll need:
You can use any other AI writer or humaniser, but these are the ones I’ve got best results from.
Step 1: Create your outline
Most people skip this step with ChatGPT.
It’s the same as walking up to a stranger and asking them to give a speech on something they’re passionate about.
They’ll jump on stage, speak with enthusiasm, but will jump between sections like no man’s business.
And they’ll probably miss something important out.
There are three options with creating your outline.
- Let Cuppa create it for you
- Manually research it yourself
- Do both of the above
Cuppa has a live SERP feature where you can see headings directly from the results page. Their headline generator produces an outline which makes sense (if you’re writing like a book).
I use the live SERP to fill in the blanks and add extra I hadn’t thought of.
This is also a fantastic opportunity to add your own unique perspective.
I agree, most blog posts today and regurgitated content - hence why backlinks are so important.
But, if you can provide more value by sharing irreplaceable experience, your conversion chances rise too.
If there’s a particular angle you have on a topic, shape the headings to reflect so.
Step 2: Add your research
ChatGPT makes stuff up sometimes.
We all know that.
So why trust it to create a blog post out of thin air? Especially when your customers are going to read it.
This is why I find relevant stats and figures for each heading. I fact check them myself and feed into Cuppa to use where appropriate.
Save those links to add to the final post later.
And, if you have your own research that you want to include (like survey results or intel not found online), add it here.
It’s another way to make your article stand out.
Step 3: Add prompts for brand voice
This is the most important step in turning your article from boring to customer-converting.
You have to give the AI direction on how you want it sound - i.e your brand’s tone of voice.
On a side note - if you don’t have a tone of voice clearly set out, pause reading this email and do it. It can be super easy or long and painful. But it’s worth it in the end.
The AI’s idea of your tone of voice won’t be perfect. But, it saves a lot of the work.
If done right, you’ll notice the difference immediately. There have been articles where I haven’t had to edit for ToV because it’s nailed it so well.
But I wouldn’t get so wound up on it because the next step may ruin it.
Step 4: Humanise your AI article
Do AI detectors actually work?
Does Google use AI detectors?
Do AI humanisers prevent detection?
I have no idea.
(P.S. I’ve noticed humanised articles are ranking A LOT better than my mass-generated experiment a few months back. But it’s early days).
However, since using AI humanisers, I’ve noticed the text becomes easy to read.
Take this example:
Before:
Anchor text does more than provide a clickable avenue for users. It tells search engines what the linked content is about. Hence, relevance is key. Let’s say you’re writing a blog on SEO and want to link to an external article on link building. The anchor text you choose could be “expert advice on link building” rather than a generic “click here”.
After:
Anchor text serves a purpose. It not only acts as a clickable link for users but also conveys to search engines the essence of the linked content. Therefore maintaining relevance is crucial. For instance if you’re crafting a blog post about SEO and wish to direct readers to an external piece on link building opt for descriptive anchor text like “expert tips on effective link building” rather than a generic “click here”.
Yeah, we could pick it apart like an English class, but that’s what the next step is for.
For the above example, I’ve used Undetectable AI - who still have a sale on! - with the following settings:
- Readability: High School
- Purpose: Article
- Strength: Balanced
I’ve played around with High School and Marketing readability, as well as the strength. I find it depends on your topic, target audience, and article purpose as to which settings work best.
However, stay away from anything like University and Essay related for the exact same reason we’re doing this in the first place:
To not sound like corporate professors in ivory towers.
Step 5: Edit for tone of voice (and grammar)
Okay, we put so much effort into this in Step 4, but bear with me.
Even if the humaniser didn’t change a few random words that make you raise your eyebrows or leave out a few commas, this is worth doing.
Because the AI will never be able to nail your exact tone of voice 100% of the time.
(If it does, we’re one step closer to cloning human beings.)
Read the generated article for the first time. Change those words, add those paragraph breaks.
If you have a copyeditor in your team, now is the time to bring them in.
Get them to make this AI-generated article into something that legal or the CEO would approve.
And don’t forget to add your own unique perspectives that we talked about earlier.
Now you’re ready to continue as normal with a polished blog post ready to go, do whatever comes next in your workflow.
Add internal links.
Find images.
Write the meta title and description.
And then hit publish, submit to Google Search Console, and sit back.
Before starting the whole process again.
That’s how I create AI articles that rank without sounding like a robot.
When you first enter Cuppa, you’ll be asked to give a keyword.
And you may wonder, “what’s the best keyword to use?”
I’ll cover that next week - from how to find easy to win keywords to clustering them so you don’t waste your efforts chasing every single one.
But for now, I want to let you in on a secret.
I’m launching a DFY AI blog content service.
You’ll do great with the steps above.
If you have the time to experiment and tune the AI to get even closer to your tone of voice, you’ll do even better.
But I’m aware that time, effort, and knowledge will stop many businesses from taking this amazing opportunity.
And I don’t want you to miss out.
Especially when you’re serious about making money from SEO.
That’s why I’m offering a complete done-for-you package that not only creates the finished article, but also includes:
- Images
- Meta title and description
- Internal linking
- Uploading to your CMS
We’ll even publish it for you, if you want.
In one typical month, you could get up to 15 articles!
After a launch offer, I’m going to be charging £2799 per month for this.
For you, I’m excited to offer you unlimited AI blog posts on a LIFETIME discount for only £1,200 per month.
That’s cheaper than hiring an junior copywriter on a full-time contract.
But before we even talk about that, I want to offer you a free article.
